{"id":886,"date":"2012-11-29T23:23:20","date_gmt":"2012-11-29T23:23:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thesmhc.co.uk\/?p=886"},"modified":"2013-02-14T22:09:53","modified_gmt":"2013-02-14T22:09:53","slug":"big-thank-you-to-neil-mcdonald-climbing-for-a-cure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thesmhc.co.uk\/?p=886","title":{"rendered":"Big Thank You to Neil McDonald (Climbing for a Cure)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We would like to say a big thank you to Neil McDonald (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.climbingforacure.co.uk\/\" title=\"Climbing for a cure\" target=\"_blank\">climbingforacure<\/a>) who gave a fantastic talk on his ascent of Mount Everest earlier this year, including a promotional video, a slideshow of photographs and a selection of kit used during the expedition.<\/p>\n<p>Neil\u2019s epic challenge was inspired by his daughter Darcey, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes three years ago. Motivated by how bravely Darcey coped with her condition and having seen the daily test type 1 diabetes placed upon his daughter and family, Neil decided he wanted to match this with an act of equal challenge, while also generating serious funds and awareness for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jdrf.org\" title=\"JDRF\" target=\"_blank\">JDRF<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>To date, over \u00a3108,000 has been raised to support research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. To show our support and appreciation to Neil, we have donated \u00a3100 to the fund.
