In the space of seven years, Karin Marshall has reached the summit of all 283 Munros, 221 Corbetts, and 224 Grahams, completing her list earlier this year.

A member of Stonehaven Mountaineering Hillwalking Club (SMHC) for 22 years, Karin completed the Munros (Scottish mountains over 3,000ft) and the Corbetts (between 2,500-3,000ft) with her husband Raymond by her side. As a joke, she had given Raymond a book of Grahams, as “Raymond had said “not ever another list would he do”!” Tragically, Raymond later passed away, and Karin said she “needed the hills more than ever, where I found peace and solace.” Karin started doing the Grahams around the Braemar and Ballater area, then more whilst away with the club on their various weekend trips, but with no intention of ever doing them all. However as the number of Grahams rose, she started going down south for her summer leave to tackle the ones below Glasgow and Edinburgh, using her Volkswagen “mobile bothy”.

Over in the west, she was once again into parts she’d never walked in Scotland, revisiting the Outer Hebrides and into glens that she’d ventured before to do either a Munro or a Corbett. After completing her final Graham (over 2,000ft), An Stac, at the head of Loch Morar, Karin was treated to a surprise party by her fellow SMHC members at the home of Ian and Anne Sinclair.

The Stonehaven Mountaineering Hillwalking Club was formed in 1978 and currently has 40 members. Karin said: “A great camaraderie exists within the club; you’ll find the support is so valuable. If you’d like to take up this lunacy I’d highly recommend coming along for the next outing, which takes place on the third Sunday of the month.”
Full Article: Mearns Leader Article

Karin Marshall has become the first member of her club to complete all three lists of Scotland’s highest mountains.
